Helen Keller: A Tribute to My Teacher
Grades 4-8 Cost: $5.00 per student
To honor the 2006 Centennial Anniversary of the Cleveland Sight Center, The Dancing Wheels Company created a story ballet about the adult life of Helen and her accomplishments as a pioneering force for women, people with disabilities, and the civil rights movement.

The Carnival of the Animals
Grades K-3 Cost: $5.00 per student
This ballet delights children through movements inspired by the animals. Choreographed Associate Artistic Director, Richard Dickinson, MFA has taken the music of Camille Saint-Saens and tells the story of the Cuckoo Bird who is made fun of by the different animals. The animals learn to appreciate each other’s differences as the beautiful Swan teaches tolerance and acceptance followed by a grand carnival ending the ballet.

CHILDREN’S CONCERT SOCIETY ANNOUNCES 2025 SCHOLASTIC COMPOSERS CONTEST WINNERS
On Wednesday April 30, 2025, first-place winners of the 72nd Scholastic Composers Contest performed their winning compositions in front of family, friends, and piano teachers at Akron Woman’s City Club (732 W. Exchange St., Akron, OH). The 15 winning compositions were judged by the Composition and Theory Department at The University of Akron. The contest was created seventy-two years ago at the suggestion of the late Mr. Ralph Gillman, former Director of Music Education for Akron Public Schools. Under the sponsorship of Children’s Concert Society, the contest encourages all students, K-12 in Summit County and the surrounding area, to participate in musical composition. There is no cost to enter. Scholarships are awarded to all first-place compositions.
This year, Owen Ferdig in 12th grade at Cuyahoga Valley Christian Academy was selected as the overall winner and received “The Ralph Gillman” Award.
