Scholastic Composers Contest
Children’s Concert Society believes it is very important to expose young people to the performing arts early in their lives when they are most open to new experiences. The students CCS reaches are the future cultural audiences and artists of our community. However, formal and informal exposure to live music is not enough. It is important for children to learn that they, too, can actually create music. Dedicated teachers have inspired students for over 70 years to enter the Scholastic Composers Contest. All students receive a ribbon indicating their award as “composer,” together with encouraging comments from the judges. All First-place winners are invited to perform their work at the Premiere Performance at the end of April each year.
Students in grades K-12th grade who reside in or are enrolled in public, private, parochial or home schools in Summit County and the surrounding area are welcome to submit an original composition. Also, teachers may organize group compositions for two or more students in K-12th grade. If you should have any questions, please call 330-972-2504.
